The BEC is open! Thanks to our God for blessing us! And thanks to all of you for your prayers.
This was a "soft" opening – that is, no prior announcement or advertising. We simply opened the shop, placed the "Now Open" signs, and were open for business. There were some administrative things to do: putting labels in the library books, putting covers on some of the books, filing & organizing. We took care of those things while we waited to see if anyone would come in.
And they did! We had only 3 visitors, but the first two of them registered as students! One signed up for the God's Master Plan self-study course, and the other signed up both for it, and for our first instructor-led class, which will begin the first week of September.
We pray that God will continue to bless this effort, and will work through the Center to draw people into His family!
Staff for opening day: Rachel Johnson, Jane Zilmer, Paul Zilmer.
We have Bibles in several languages besides English. This led our very first student to request that we try to locate a German Bible for members of her family.
And of course we have several versions in English.
We modeled our business cards after the ones successfully used in South Africa. (But we pre-printed the BEC info on the back...instead of having to stamp them all!)
Also shown – the flier for our fall instructor-led classes, which will begin in September.
Our bulletin board announces what we have to offer, including a calendar that shows upcoming events.
The lounge/study area. The round book rack in the center holds the reference materials available for anyone to use. In future we'll operate a lending library, and we hope to have a walk-up computer so people can do Bible research on-line.
The banner shown here is our temporary sign. Our plan is to have "Bible Education Center" on the white pillar (running vertically), and the BEC logo in a large size on the glass.
